GrandessoCera

GrandessoCera is an experimental project born in 2019, made from the saxophonist Damiano Grandesso and the sound-designer/composer Andrea Cera.

The music was used in the soundtrack of the Rai3 production Hic Sunt Leones (2020 - Ricci-Forte).

In 2021 GRANDESSOCERA will release his first album with the Label Jazz-O-Tech.

Every musician needs extensions, in order to transfer musical ideas to others.

A singer needs a throat, a violinist needs a violin, a composer needs performers, a DJ needs a deck. And everyone needs air, eardrums, cochleas, and auditory systems. Nobody can perform the music he has in mind without using tools - and the tools partially determine the shape of musical ideas.

The distinction between musical ideas and extensions is often distorted.

On one hand, the persons holding musical ideas, owning musical skills ascend to a magical, holy, religious universe. On the other, extensions remain on the trivial and mundane side of everyday existence.

We explore this distinction. We displace several planes of human musical presence in a virtual dimension.

We try to salvage the incalculable, unpredictable character of the human musical mind, but in a disintegrated state, where musical ideas and skills are distributed through several layers of computer technology.

The interpreter is physically present, acting as a node between the public and the amalgamation of disintegrated planes of the work.
